A comprehensive virtual exhibition tracing the founding journey of Saudi Arabia from the First Saudi State in Diriyah in 1727 to the declaration of the Kingdom in 1932. The exhibition features rare documents, manuscripts, and photographs documenting the most significant historical milestones in the unification journey, with interactive displays and visual content bringing historical scenes to life.
In 1727, Imam Muhammad bin Saud founded the First Saudi State in Diriyah. The journey began from this historic city that became the capital of a state extending across most of the Arabian Peninsula. The alliance between Imam Muhammad bin Saud and Sheikh Muhammad bin Abdulwahhab formed the cornerstone for building a strong state based on justice and Islamic law. Diriyah flourished, becoming a leading political, scholarly, and commercial center in the Arabian Peninsula.
After the fall of the First State, Imam Turki bin Abdullah succeeded in establishing the Second Saudi State in 1824, making Riyadh its capital. The Second State continued building the Saudi political entity and promoting stability in the region despite internal and external challenges.
On the 5th of Shawwal 1319 AH, corresponding to January 15, 1902, King Abdulaziz bin Abdulrahman Al Saud succeeded in recapturing Riyadh in a bold operation that changed the course of history. Starting from Kuwait with a small group of men, he stormed Masmak Fortress on a decisive night. This event marked the beginning of the unification journey that continued for three decades.
On September 23, 1932, King Abdulaziz declared the unification of the country under the name Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, crowning three decades of effort and struggle to unite the Arabian Peninsula. This declaration marked the birth of a modern sovereign state and the beginning of a new era of comprehensive development and nation-building.
