King Abdulaziz Foundation (Darah) signed a historic cooperation agreement with the British Library in London to digitize over 50,000 documents and manuscripts related to the history of the Arabian Peninsula and the Arabian Gulf. The five-year agreement encompasses exchange of expertise in preservation, restoration, and digital cataloging. The materials covered by the agreement include British India records relating to the Arabian Peninsula, reports from British political residents in the Gulf, historical maps and plans of the region, and rare diplomatic correspondence shedding light on the history of international relations in the area. The Secretary General of Darah stated that this agreement represents an important step in Darah's efforts to repatriate Saudi documentary heritage preserved in international archives and make it available to researchers and historians. He emphasized that digital copies will be freely accessible through Darah's digital platform. This agreement forms part of a series of international partnerships Darah has established with leading archival and library institutions worldwide, including the Library of Congress, the French National Archives, and the National Library of the Netherlands.
