King Abdulaziz Foundation (Darah) celebrated the 50th anniversary of Al-Darah journal, one of the most prestigious peer-reviewed periodicals specializing in Arabian Peninsula history and Islamic civilization. To mark the occasion, Darah issued a special commemorative edition featuring the most significant research and studies published in the journal over half a century. The first issue was published in 1975, and the journal has since become an essential reference for researchers studying Saudi Arabian and Arabian Peninsula history. Over its history, the journal has published more than 2,000 research papers and studies by leading Arab and international historians and scholars. The celebration included a scientific symposium titled "Half a Century of Historical Research: Al-Darah Journal and Its Role in Serving National History," featuring current and former editorial board members and prominent scholars who have published in the journal. The editor-in-chief announced development plans including the launch of an interactive digital edition with a comprehensive digital archive of all previous issues, the addition of visual and audio content complementing published research, and the adoption of open peer review and preprint publication systems.
